Early Test Build, also known as Demo 0 by the community, was the first build of Pizza Tower released to the general public, and serves as a general playtest demo for people to get a look and feel for the game.
In this demo, Peppino controls very differently compared to how he does in later demos. The dash move was mapped to the grab key instead (grabbing is automatic, but only possible on stunned enemies), and Peppino has a move that doesn't appear in any other demos - the player holds UP and jumps to get a higher jump.
Enemies can only be stunned and therefore are impossible to kill, except for Cheeseslimes.
There are also several placeholder sound assets, plenty taken from Wario Land games, one from Chrono Trigger, and others from an unknown source, used for things like the Bomb/Knight themes, enemies being hit, and the player themselves getting hit.

Trivia[]
- In this demo's only level, the highest amount of points obtainable is 3000, meaning that the player needs all possible points in the level to get an S-rank.
- In an earlier version of the demo, its only level was different, and Smoked Weenie was red (meaning the only difference was its lit cigar).
- Peppino's idle animation in this demo is different from newer builds, having him blink and glance around instead of just bobbing up and down.
- Enemies have animations that go unused in newer builds.
- Peppino's Super Jump is slightly different. Instead of being able to move slowly while holding UP, and doing the super jump when the key is released, the super jump instead activates immediately when pressing UP.
- This also uses a different animation where Peppino stays still, instead of rotating in place.
- This build has some secret rooms, all of which feature a photo of a real-life pizza as the background. The image has a wavy effect.
- In Peppino's Knight Transformation, Frog's Theme from Chrono Trigger was used. The victory screen music uses the level clear jingle from Wario World, and when picking up a bomb, the Flaming Wario theme from Wario Land 2 is played.
- This was part of a scrapped concept, where each of Peppino's Transformations would have a different theme.
- Most enemies in this demo are unable to be defeated, instead being constantly stunned.
- Peppino's panic idle can be seen when pressing SHIFT, and his running animation can be also be seen when pressing SHIFT, while walking. However, this is only seen in V1.
- Peppino's mach run trail effect, which flashes between red and green, can also be purple. This was already changed in the first Tester Build of Demo 1.
- Levels from Preearlytestbuild are in the files of this demo.
- Peppino has a voice in this demo, which plays whenever the player gets hit, collects a complete pizza, unlocks a door, collects the secret treasure, and when Pizza Time starts. All but the last one have different voices, and one is chosen to be played.
- These voice-lines were sourced from stock Warner Bros. sounds used during the development of Super Mario 64, as demonstrated by metadata attached to the included audio files.
- There is an alternate version of Earlytestbuild called Peter Griffin Experience, which is just Earlytestbuild, except Peppino's sprites are replaced with a static image of Peter Griffin, and the level was updated, added tons of decorations, and Theatrical Shenanigans is replaced with Family Guy Cool Whip Remix.
- There are 5 unused results text left over in this build, which may have been intended for a scrapped results screen.
- The unused Bowling Ball still existed in the files at this point.
- It would later make its appearance in Demo 1.
- Peppino can perform a backbreaker when running at Mach 2 into stunned Forknight, Pepperoni Goblin and Pineacool enemies.
- This demo has sprites that will be used in later builds, but isn't seen in the Early Test Build.
